BUTCH JOHNS MEMORIAL COMPETITION
THE EVENT:
The event is held early in the year towards the end of January and is a fun competition for all who attend. You will find a good gathering of locals and visitors alike in attendance each year.

EVENT HISTORY:
This is an annual event to honour and celebrate the memory of BUTCH JOHNS, the founder and visionary of Innis Fly Fishery. Dave’s father, Clarence ‘Butch’ Johns, had a small parcel of moorland which he did not use which had a spring-fed river running through it. Dave’s idea was to build a lake for his own personal use. With the help and support of his father and siblings the lake was created. After Butch passed away his son Dave decided to hold an annual friendly competition in his fathers memory. The event has been well attended and has been running now for several years.
EVENT RESULTS 2026:
On Sunday 25th January we held the 36th Butch Johns Memorial Trophy Competition. Sixteen anglers took part catching 46 fish, giving a respectable rod average of 2.9.

A very close second was Dave Perks also with 11 points, catching 8 fish but off 3 pegs only.
